Investment opportunities
We not only give members access to BOP business investment opportunities we also, through our sister angel groups and others, have access to investment opportunities from around the country often on a syndicate basis. EA itself does not invest. Members do so individually but in conjunction with other interested members, creating greater control and input into their investments on a collective basis, as opposed to simply being a small individual investor with little impact. EA offers members an opportunity to leverage into investments:
- of a size and type with real growth potential
- that may otherwise be beyond an individual’s investment capability
- with the involvement of the wider set of skills and experience of other Members
- with the strength of a group think tank for strategy, negotiation and Board representation
- with a better spread of investment risk
Cameradie / Joint Investing
One of the keys to making successful angel (early stage business) investments is having knowledge and experience of the industry the business investment opportunity is from. No one can be an expert in every industry so being a member of EA enables members to get to know each other's backgrounds and draw on each other's specific use industry experience and expertise to evaluate opportunities and then actively manage them. Potential investments are discussed collectively and issues and advice are freely exchanged in a totally confidential environment.
Education
First it's important to know by joining EA no one will be expecting you to invest in businesses from day one. There is a great deal to learn in order to increase your chances of making profitable investments. While formal courses and access to industry statistics and best practice is very important the best way to learn is by actually working on deals with others. We give members time to learn prior to investing.
