MaiBand is a pioneering startup dedicated to enhancing emergency medical care. Founded by Daniel Evans, MaiBand has developed a cutting-edge band with wireless capability. This wristband links directly to a patient’s live medical information, providing instant, critical data access to paramedics in emergency situations.
MaiBand’s core product is a sleek, user-friendly wristband equipped with Near Field Communication technology. When scanned by a paramedic tablet, it connects to secure, real-time databases of patient information using API’s built on the Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR) standard. This ensures that paramedics and healthcare providers can access GP-verified medical data instantly, which is crucial for making informed decisions during emergencies.

Maiband has received interest from Hato Hone/St John and Medtech (the largest practice management system in New Zealand) to integrate Maiband with their systems.

The demand for efficient and reliable access to patient medical records in emergency situations is significant with a global market opportunity of $7.379 billion. MaiBand addresses this need by providing a seamless solution that bridges the gap between patients, healthcare providers, and emergency responders. Their initial market focus is New Zealand, with plans to expand to the United Kingdom and Australia.

Enterprise Angels members Alan Dick and Brian Bilas have been working closely with Daniel since March 2023, when Maiband showcased at Pitch night on the back of winning the New Zealand Young Enterprise National – Gallagher Smart Technology Award and  Yia Supreme Technology Award in 2022. Over the last year Maiband has resdesigned their hardware, architecture, completed app prototype development and developed a clear business strategy to bring the product to market in 18 months.

Daniel is now raising funds to hire two software developers to help achieve GP practice management system integrations in NZ with full St John integration.
