Education globally is going through some major upheavals as it tries to grapple with a changing world. At the same time, technology has had a massive impact on education and the way students and teachers interact with the world. Young people are interested and engaged in a range of topics and are keen to manage their own lives and plan next steps. However, they want to do these things on their terms and through technology.

MyMahi was developed as a tool to help schools and other educational organisations develop the whole learner. It uses an innovative self-management approach that encourages and supports learners on their unique journeys through school and work.

Co-founded by Jeff King, a secondary school Deputy Principal and Wasim Talim as a simple NCEA credit counter, to help young people take charge of their learning and monitor their credits on the phone. However they discovered the biggest issue for youth is knowing what to do with those credits and how they can use them to enter the next stage of their life. The MyMahi platform was built to enable young people to plan ideas about those vital next steps and look at the range of options out there. Young people can now view thousands of tertiary courses, set goals, self reflect, develop a CV as well as build a portfolio showing employers why they are work ready.

The MyMahi mentor dashboard gives teachers and mentors a unique way to connect and support their learners. This framework can also be used by businesses to mentor their staff.

The company has recently exceeded $1m in ARR and after impressive levels of adoption in NZ is now rapidly expanding within Australia.
