EC8, a local Hamilton based startup, has developed the technology to robotically cut drywall (GIB), delivered to building sites ready to go on the wall. Utilising digital measuring, off-site digital cutting and robotic handling, EC8 has the potential to make some really positive changes in the construction industry.
With thirty houses now built using the technology, it has halved drywall installation time and reduced waste by 30%, increasing efficiency and reducing build costs.
Founder Christopher Staal has been supported by Enterprise Angel member John Macaskill-Smith who has helped EC8 progress from the design stage through to implementation phase. The company is now raising capital to support future expansion into export markets.
