Alan Bougen: Alan is the Deputy Chairman of Comvita, having been a foundation Director since 1976 and serving as Managing Director until 1998. His background in the natural healthcare industry, apiculture and international marketing brings a particularly pertinent industry and global perspective to the Board as Comvita continues in the developments of its key offshore markets. Alan is a member of The Institute of Directors and operates his own consultancy business which includes directorships in other private companies.
Barry Vercoe: Barry was born and educated in New Zealand, was Professor of Media Arts and Sciences at MIT Boston 1971-2010 and co-founder of the famed MIT Media Lab in 1985. In 2011 he retired to become Professor Emeritus, and currently lives in New Zealand.
Bruce Bartley: Bruce is a professional Engineer. His board experience spans 32 years including: property development, land development, engineering designs, international export sales, co-founder of an internet/satellite startup (Spidertracks), manufacturing and design of high tech electronics, retail (Challenger Sports - snow and water sports retailers), importing - Specialised Mountain Bikes. Bruce is also a Director of new start-up company Beany.biz, and has a 180 lot land development underway. Bruce holds directorships for Spidertracks (tech manufacturing), Locheagles (land development), Merlin Bartley Ltd (project management) and Sovereign Helicopters Ltd (helicopter operations and trading). Bruce was Enterprise Angel's first Taupo member, and is also an independant trustee for Enterprise Great Lake Taupo.
Colin Groves: Colin has spent the past 23 years primarily as Director of Mergers and Acquisitions at Tetra Laval, the world's largest private company and maker of the renowned Tetra Pak packaging solutions and DeLaval milk processing machinery. He has also held roles at Informix Software, and the US healthcare multinational Johnson & Johnson. A chartered accountant and former English school boy and colts rugby international, Mr Groves is currently Chairman of New Zealand’s largest smart phone application development company MEA Mobile, the Agri Group of Companies, which includes the leading dairy consumables business, Deosan, and is Chairman of SeaDragon NZX. He sits on the Waikato Rugby Board and is also an independent director of VetSouth.
Deidre Copley: Deidre has over twenty five years’ experience in financial markets. She has been with Craigs Investment Partners since 2000 and is Head of Fixed Income and a member of the Investment Committee. Prior to this Deidre worked for Westpac, in Debt Capital Markets and Institutional Banking. Earlier roles were with ANZ Treasury and as research analyst for ANZ Funds Management. Deidre is an Authorised Financial Adviser, Member of the Institute of Finance Professionals New Zealand Inc. and Associate of the Institute of Directors.
Deion Campbell: Deion holds a Master in Electrical Engineering from Canterbury University and is a chartered professional engineer and a Fellow of the Institute of Professional Engineers of NZ and a member of the Institute of Directors. His current corporate position is General Manager Generation at Trustpower Limited, and he is a member of Trustpower's executive management team, reporting to the CEO and with operational leadership and P&L responsibility for the company's generation team. Deion represents Trustpower as a director of Rangatata Diversion Race Management Ltd, a major irrigation entity in the south island of New Zealand. In his non-corporate life, he oversees a smallish private equity fund with interest in property, mining and technology. He is a director/shareholder of a geotechnical engineering and underground mining services company in Australia, and is also independent chair of a small start-up electric vehicle business and has become an active Angel investor. In 2010 Deion sold a multi-million dollar business in the education sector which he developed with his wife over the preceding five years.
Hamish Coleman: Hamish Coleman joined Craigs Investment Partners in 2000 as an Equities Dealer. After two years in the United Kingdom working for UBS Warburg and Bank of New York, Hamish returned to Craigs Investment Partners as an Investment Adviser. Within his Advisory role, he has a focus on Portfolio Wealth Management. Hamish Coleman holds the following qualifications: Certificate of Authorisation AFA (2011), NZX Diploma (2003), Bachelor of Science (Mathematics), University of Victoria, British Columbia, Canada (1999).
Kylie van Heerden: Kylie is a Partner at Sharp Tudhope Lawyers in the Commercial team. She joined the firm in 2006, having previously worked for a leading law firm in Auckland. Kylie advises individual and corporate clients on a range of commercial matters including company compliance, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, supply and distribution arrangements, service contracts, capital raising and company structures. Kylie sits on the ExportNZ Bay of Plenty Executive Committee and is a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport. Kylie is also a Member of the Institute of Directors and provides advice on matters of governance to various Boards as well as serving as an independent commercial director for two local companies.
Paul Yarrall: Paul’s career evolved around sales and marketing with initial emphasis in the sporting and outdoor industry and working on wholesale distribution and sales for 15 yrs. Later a proprietor of a sports retail store in Hamilton (5yrs). Most recently Export Manager and shareholder of phil&teds and Mountain Buggy. Solely charged with setting up all export markets across Australia, USA, UK & Europe, resulting in sales distribution in 55 countries (14yrs). Paul is currently Sales Director and investor in Balex Marine Ltd helping to commercialise and develop the sales and marketing business around the world's first "automatic boat loader". Paul is interested in consulting and investing opportunities to help grow small companies with emphasis on sales & strategy to break into export markets.
Simon Perry: After 15 years as Chief Executive for Perry Group, Simon stepped aside in 2007 to take up the role of Chairman for the Group. Simon also chairs the Brian Perry Charitable Trust, and more recently was appointed Chairman of Bike NZ. Simon sits on numerous Boards as a Director for the current Perry investments as well as being a Director for a number of other organisations.
Taari Nicholas: Chartered Accountant Taari Nicholas holds the distinction of being the first Maori member of the NZ Stock Exchange. He current directorships include: Southern Pastures Ltd, Miraka Ltd, Te Awanui Hukapak Ltd, Parininihi-ki-Waitotara Incorporation and Ngati Ruanui Holdings Corporation. He is also a member of the Direct Capital IV Investment Advisory Committee. He was an Earthquake Commissioner and a director of companies including Moana Pacific Fisheries Ltd, Ngati Awa Group Holdings Ltd, Seeka Kiwifruit Industries Ltd and Kordia Ltd.
Tim Heeley: Tim has 20 years’ experience in the international energy industry including 8 years investment banking experience. He brings a number of years’ experience of being a public company CEO and has served as a non-executive director of a number of UK public companies. Tim currently serves on the board of EA-backed MEA Mobile and chairs a charitable trust. Tim runs his own business consultancy focused on growth and strategy and has worked with a number of diverse early stage and growth companies.
